To help you in your quest
for total internet domination we have put together a top list of what
you can do to increase your Web traffic substantial. Follow the tips and
see how much you can increase your traffic. We would love to hear from
anyone who either has or has not increased their website traffic by
following our tutorials and using our promotional tools. Remember though
it is up to you and nobody else to get your site moving and although
submitting to search engines certainly helps there are other easier ways
of getting traffic to you in a quicker space of time.
1. Meta Tags - Yep we love to hate them but
Meta Tags are very important in website promotion. Ensure that you have
installed them correctly and then modify them every few months. Without
the Tags your site will not be listed properly by the top engines thus
denying you traffic. See our guide on
Meta
Tags to help you out or use our
Meta
Tag maker to generate some. If you already have them installed use
our handy
spider to see what the search
engine spider will be able to find. It as advisable to change your Meta
Tags at least once every two months otherwise the search engines may
reduce your ranking if it returns and finds the same information.
The best advice for Meta Tags is to concentrate on keywords that might
be searched for but will not be present on the other thousands of websites like
yours, this way you will stand more of a chance to get
into the top 10.
You can use our
Harvester
to help you get the best keywords for your site.
2. Page Scanning - Take advantage of search
engines that use page scanning techniques such as Google and Northern
Lights. Ensure that your headings are worded in such a way that the page
will be shown within certain search criteria.
You can work out your wording by remembering how people search for
sites, for example use 'the best freebie sites' not 'the best freebie
site' as most will search for sites not site or use 'UK search engines'
not 'UK search engine' as again engines would be searched for not
engine. If you use this technique properly you can double your traffic
in a very short period of time.
You must also take into account that some people will search in
upper case or lower case letters or even a mixture of both.
3. Banner exchanges - These are
probably the quickest way of getting traffic to your website. Try and
join ones which offer a high starting credit and this will ensure that
your banner is advertised even while you are trying to get traffic to
your site. It is best to join several and place the banners on different
pages. Check your stats frequently to see how many hits you are getting
and move the highest display/hit ratio exchange to your front page.
Never place more than two banners on any one page as this can slow the
download and lose you visitors.
It is always wise to get a good banner or button made up and if necessary
get a professional one done. Experiment with them as you will surprised
what different responses you will get.
4. Top Sites - Top sites are an
excellent way of sending you website traffic but can back fire on you
if nobody clicks on the button that is on your site. The best advice for
these is to join them all over a period of time and place the buttons in
strategic areas. Cheat if necessary as everyone else does but don't over
do it as you will get banned. As with the banner exchanges it is always
a good idea to not only experiment with different types and styles of
banners or buttons but also the text which goes along with it. Every
time you join a top site use different text and see which ones get you
traffic.
Once you know which top sites send you hits
concentrate on them and get rid of the others.
5. Doorway Pages - Doorways can help boost
your website position in search engines, however you need to be very
careful that you are not accused of spamming the engines and getting
your site banned. Read our
Doorway Page
Guide and then decide if you need to create any for your site with
our Doorway Page maker.
Doorway
pages should only be used if you have more than one category within your
website and you are finding that the search engines are denying
you traffic as a result.
